Surf & Kite surf

Essaouira is a paradise for fans of board sports thanks to the Alizé wind which blows there nearly all the year round.

Its beach and those of Sidi Kaouki (to the South) and Moulay Bouzerktoun (to the North) are ideal for surfing or kitesurfing.

There are numerous sports clubs that provide lessons and good quality equipment for hire. You can get the best advice to try or do the water-based sport of your choice.

Information available at the welcome desk.

Essaouira, the must-do

Essaouira, the must-do

Formerly known as Mogador, Essaouira (the well designed), with its fishing port, sea gulls and city walls, might remind you of Saint-Malo in French Brittany, but that’s as far as it goes. As soon as you go through the doors in its wall, you find yourselves in the medina, with its alleys, typical shops (spices, leather goods, potteries, thuja wood goods...) and its very Moroccan atmosphere, where it is nice to just stroll around, and stop for a coffee or lunch.

The medina of Essaouira was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001
